These very intelligent people are confused about Obama's role. as much as so-called black activists want Obama to do their job for them, they are NOT off the hook. Martin, Malcolm, Jesse Jackson and others like them represent the work of Black Activism, while Obama is the RESULT of that work. they will need to challenge him on substantive issues, just like any other elected official (for the record, whose names he calls or doesn't call in a freakin' SPEECH is NOT substantive!).
there is no passing of the baton from jesse to barack... what foolishness! the only baton that was passed (if any) was from the Clintons to Barack. the reason i say that is Barack is NOT a black ACTIVIST. he's a black politician.
if Martin Luther King or Malcolm X had lived to be 120 years old, neither would EVER have even tried to run for president, because that is not their role. their role is to challenge the government, not to run it. in the scripture, God called his people "a nation of Kings and Priests"... it is very difficult to do both offices, because they call for very different priorities...
part of the problem with Jesse Jackson or Sharpton running political campaigns is that it is NOT what they are called to do. they are Activists. they can focus on a much smaller set of goals... they are not elected, they are CALLED. there are many, many leadership offices, and they have very different kinds of responsibilities.
God is not trying to raise up an All-In-One messiah. Obama's a gifted speaker, but that doesn't make him a preacher, anymore than doctor King needed to run for President. Barack understands this, but for whatever reason, many people still don't.

Okay this is crazy because there IS a lot of confusion about Barack. I've been hearing a lot of my peeps (mostly African American males in their mid to late 20s) and all of them are saying the same thing, that Barack is actually Bush. They also say that he is contradicting himself most of the time... if one listens closely enough. It's so crazy though. You're right, MLK, Malcom -- they wouldn't run for president. I feel that. I am trying to see all sides to this madness thank u for your insight Goldi Gold...
this my my dude amen words. Yea, you know how heads is, it's always gonna be a lack of trust whoever you are if your within the government. Black people mentioned he not talking to the hood. white people got they personal issues with about him and politician screaming he's not experience enough. So he got to walk the str8 and narrow with everybody. And that's alot of emotions to deal with
