Organic food not healthier, study finds

Lawddd!!, Say it ain't so!!!

LONDON (Reuters) – Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over conventionally produced food, according to a major study published on Wednesday.

Its conclusions were challenged by organic food campaigners.

Researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine said consumers paid higher prices for organic food in part because of its perceived health benefits, creating a global organic market worth an estimated $48 billion in 2007.
A systematic review of 162 scientific papers published in the scientific literature over the last 50 years, however, found there was no significant difference.

"A small number of differences in nutrient content were found to exist between organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs, but these are unlikely to be of any public health relevance," said Alan Dangour, one of the report's authors.
"Our review indicates that there is currently no evidence to support the selection of organically over conventionally produced foods on the basis of nutritional superiority."

The results of research, which was commissioned by the British government's Food Standards Agency, were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Peter Melchett, policy director of Britain's Soil Association, which promotes organic farming, said he was disappointed by the conclusions reached by the study's authors.

He criticized the methodology of the study, which he said had led researchers to reject some clear nutritional benefits as "not important."

Melchett also pointed out there was not sufficient research to assess the long-term effects of pesticides on human health.
Sales of organic food have fallen in some markets, including Britain, as recession has led consumers to cut back on purchases.

The Soil Association said in April that growth in sales of organic products in Britain slowed to just 1.7 percent in 2008, well below the average annual growth rate of 26 percent over the last decade, following a plunge in demand at the end of the year.

Trailer for Ghostface’s Graphic Novel “Cell Block Z”

I read about this first on Ghetto manga of course. But peep the trailer. The joint looks aight. I phux with that hard edge artwork in comic books. Gotta make a run to the comic book store this week

To his fans, Cole Dennis is a heavyweight contender with a devastating right hook. To a city being held hostage to chaos and terror, Dennis has a grit and charisma that make him the shining hope for justice–until he is arrested for a brutal murder. Framed for a crime he did not commit, he finds himself captive in a foreboding high-tech superprison whose masters secretly conspire to turn inmates into tomorrow’s most terrifying bioweapons–with Cole Dennis as the intended prize specimen. But Dennis is nobody’s lab rat. Reborn as a towering engine of destruction, Dennis will prepare for the fight of his life. He will rename himself Ghostface Killah. And his cry of righeous rage will echo beyond the cold steel walls of Cell Block Z.

Bill Gates quits Facebook over 'too many friends'

Word up!!!!

NEW DELHI (AFP) – Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said he was forced to give up on the social networking phenomenon Facebook after too many people wanted to be his friend.

Gates, the billionaire computer geek-turned-philanthropist who was honoured Saturday by India for his charity work, told an audience in New Delhi he had tried out Facebook but ended up with "10,000 people wanting to be my friends".
Gates, who remains Microsoft chairman, said he had trouble figuring out whether he "knew this person, did I not know this person".

"It was just way too much trouble so I gave it up," Gates told the business forum.
Gates was in the Indian capital to receive the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, awarded by the government for his work for the charitable organisation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The foundation, built by his massive fortune, has committed nearly one billion dollars to health and development projects in India, targeting especially AIDS and polio.
Gates also confided to the audience that he was "not that big at text messaging" and that "I'm not a 24-hour-a-day tech person".

"I read a lot and some of that reading is not on a computer," he said.
Gates, who sought to drive a vision of a computer on every desk and in every home, said the information technology revolution had been "hugely beneficial" but added: "All these tools of tech waste our time if we're not careful."

Johnny Mad Dog

This I got to see yo!!!

Directed by French Director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, Johnny Mad Dog is an ultra-realistic portrayal of the gruesome life experienced by child soldiers during the Liberian civil wars (although the identity of the country is not made explicit in the film). While the story itself is based on a fictional novel of the same name by Emmanuel Dongala, many of the the actors in the film are actually former child soldiers who witnessed and committed some of the worst atrocities.

Vick begins getting life, career back in order

We'll see what the future got for this brother right here

By Charles Robinson

Today, Michael Vick(notes) begins the rest of his life.

That’s what friends and associates close to Vick have told Yahoo! Sports during the past few weeks, after spending time with the quarterback since his release from Leavenworth prison for his role in a dogfighting ring. The former NFL quarterback has spent the past two months in home confinement, where sources say he has been working in earnest to repair almost every phase of his life – re-establishing bonds with his family, mending fences with his community, and rebuilding his body in hopes of once again capturing a job in the NFL.

Vick at home following his release from Leavenworth.

“What has impressed me the most, Michael told me, ‘I’m ready to start the second half of my life and I won’t make the same mistakes I’ve made in the past,’ ” said Tom Shaw, considered by many to be the preeminent trainer in pro football. Shaw has known Vick since his days at Virginia Tech, and has spoken with him regularly since the quarterback was released from prison. “Nike, that whole [contract], he was making so much money. But he realizes that he made mistakes, and he’s ready to start the second half of his life. He’s not bitter. It’s not anything like that, where he’s saying, ‘Man, I can’t believe they did that to me.’ I think he’s accepted it. … He’s beyond humbled. You could not imagine the feeling that this guy has had.”

Vick has yet to speak publicly to the media, but he faces one of the steepest climbs imaginable in the coming days – both in public perception and in the world of pro football. With his estate in bankruptcy and his NFL career on indefinite hold, he is quietly awaiting judgment on whether he’ll be allowed to play in 2009. READ

It's some big politiks going on with this issue right here son and read why? BOGUS Award Goes to.....CRUNK .But I did the interview for this last year and the timing was perfect, because flux and I was getting love from the peoples because the painted wall we did for the Arts, Beats and Lyrics made it on the Bust Rhymes video shoot. Which was being played like crazy on tv. So to do this interview with busta on the cover would be the icing on the cake.
But, the joint never dropped and from that link up top, the reasons run deep. The fly thing, once again was Miya Bailey of City of Ink was in the same issue pg 34. I'm on pg 36. To be honest. We love when that shit happens because we all fam. when they win, we win. When we win, they win. So it would've been dope to beat people in the head with that issue. But shit, we hustle hard, so don't be surprised if you see something with us again. SALUTE, oh Yea, the title of my interview was HIP HOP MEETS PICASSO. Now that's gangsta. but Miya joint is on pg 34 mines on pg36

Appreciate the love with this pic featuring Taj and the future. Hahahah. I see big things for little Dilla because the foundation is strong. I'm trying to stay focus with jungle45. We have a lot to offer. Time is beasting on us now but we still got heat. In due time peoples

Gatorade - Michael Jordan Mosaic Constructed From 19,000+ Bottles

Wow, they need to have behid the seen footage of the construction of this

Ahead of the 6 special edition Gatorade bottles in honor of Michael Jordan’s induction to Hall of Frame this September, the sports drink maker unveiled a mosaic of His Airness’ signature dunk earlier this week. Situated in the basketball court on the South Side on Jordan’s hometown, Chicago. The massive mosaic is made of 19,000+ bottles of the sport drink itself, including the 6 limited Jordan bottles, in different flavors. A backlight platform permit light to shrine through each bottle, creating a “lite brite” effect on the mosaic. For its unveiling, a few special VIPs joined in, including Jordan’s former teammate Scottie Pippen and track & field star Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who both placed a few bottles for the finishing touch.

Aight, the pic my people's Jarren passed me had his daughter and a bunch of toys on the table while he was writing rhymes. So dude wanted to have the artwork with him writing, with the toys looking crazy at him, minus his daughter in the pic and to make it look lsd out. So after it was done. The joint looked a little to crazy with him on the table with them toys.
So he mentioned a boombox and i found pics of mics and cassette tapes and just made it look messy with the different colored water. which end up being the cover he liked and rolled with. I like the colors on this tough. So it was fun to do for real
