Actions in Support of Troy Davis



Monday, Sept. 19

There has been a 24-hour vigil/protest taking place outside of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles headed up by Georgia State University Students that started at about 5pm Sunday the 18th, and another group came into the vigil/protest at 7:30am and will remain all day as a "continuous community witness and prayer circle) - Sloppy Floyd Building - 2 MLK Dr (at Piedmont, adjacent to the GSU Marta station) - that will last at least until the end of the clemency hearing (which is closed to the public and media) that begins at 9AM Monday morning.

At 7am, WRFG 89.3FM will begin a Troy Davis Justice Watch with live broadcasts from outside the Pardons and Parole Board building, at the top of each hour.

10:30am, Press Conference at the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, Sloppy Floyd Building - 2 MLK Dr (at Piedmont, adjacent to the GSU Marta station)

Tuesday, Sept. 20
Various organizations are making contingency plans in response to the Board's decision.
Georgians For an Alternative to the Dearth Penalty (GFADP - www.gfadp.org) will hold a celebratory gathering at a church (TBA ) if clemency or a temporary stay is granted.

In the event the death sentence is upheld, Tuesday will be a Day of Protest.
8:30am, death penalty opponents will protest at the offices of Dr. Carlo Musso, 9020 Peridot Parkway, Stockbridge 30281. He is paid $18,000 to administer the lethal injection in violation of his medical oath "to do no harm."

6pm, Grassroots International Rally to Stop the Execution of Troy Davis at Woodruff Park, Atlanta (91 Peachtree Street NE - 1 Block North of the 5 Points Marta Train Station). This protest rally was called by The FTP Movement, POCC/BPPC, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, UNIA, Uhuru Movement, N'Cobra, Temple of Hip Hop, Zulu Nation, Nation of Islam, New Black Panther Party, and RCP, and protestors are slated to march from Woodruff Park to a rally at the Georgia State Capital (206 Washington St., Atlanta). https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=144894072271472&ref=ts

GFADP urges people to wear black arm bands inscribed with "Not in my Name" and to attend a protest rally at 7pm at the State Capitol.
