(King Michael Jackson) Audiograph Memorial
words by jay electronica
I made this because i have loved Michael Jackson all of my life. All of my memories from about 5 years old or so (which is about as far back as i remember with some ease) can be tied to or associated with or landmarked by some musical contribution of Michael Jackson at that time. From then, all the way to now. He is a dark fingerprint on a very large part of who I am and who most of the people I know personally are. And thats why i posted this picture along with this song. The response to this song is amazing, and overwhelming and i appreciate all of the love and support it is recieving from everywhere. And i dedicate all of this positive energy toward a Great Hero of mine (although not perfect) who has performed many miracles in his physical life and who has and will be for many moons continue to be a glowing light in the dark for those who see something better inside of themselves and have the will and desire to pursue it. Evolution. May our good works be recorded and duplicated, and may our sins be recorded and forgiven. Amen

Happiness: 6 Myths and Truths
Don't Fall for These 6 Happiness Myths; Learn How to Overcome Them
By Annie Stuart
WebMD Feature Reviewed by Louise Chang, MD
If you'd like to be happier -- who wouldn't? -- the first step may be to challenge your own views about happiness.
Maybe you think that to be happier, you need more than you have now -- more freedom, more money, more love ... fill in the blank. Or maybe you've convinced yourself that this is as good as it gets.
Such beliefs may be more myth than fact. Although a myth usually contains a kernel of truth, it can also sprout and grow, spreading seeds of doubt that can ultimately crowd out your own growth.
Here are six common myths about happiness that may actually be downsizing your happiness. The truth may set you free for a happier life, starting right now.
Happiness Myth No. 1: Either you have it or you don't.
Say you have two kids you've raised just the same, but they have opposite personalities -- one sour, the other sunny. This makes it hard to dispute the fact that genes play a powerful role in each person's happiness. There's evidence that genetics contributes to about 50% of your happiness set point.
But that's a far cry from 100%, says Sonja Lyubormirsky, PhD, author of The How of Happiness: A New Approach to Getting the Life You Want and professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside.
"If you do the work, research shows you can become happier, no matter what your set point is," Lyubomirsky says. "You probably won't go from a one to a 10, but you can become happier. It just takes commitment and effort, as with any meaningful goal in life."
Not only can you become happier, but it gets easier over time, she says. Do you want to work on nurturing relationships, writing in a gratitude journal, committing random acts of kindness, or developing a program of morning meditation or exercise? Changes like these -- proven methods for enhancing happiness -- can become habits after a while, which means they eventually take less effort.
Happiness Myth No. 2: Happiness is a destination.
Many people think of happiness as a destination or acquisition - whether it's marriage, money, or a move to a new location. Sure, things like these can contribute to happiness, but not as much as you might think -- only about 10% of your whole happiness picture, Lyubomirsky says.
If you've done the math, you now realize that about 40% of your happiness is in your hands. Lasting happiness has more to do with how you behave and think, which you ultimately control more than many of life's circumstances.
Robert Biswas-Diener, MS, founder of Meridian Life Coaching LLC and co-author of Happiness: Unlocking the Mysteries of Psychological Wealth, agrees.
"Happiness isn't the emotional finish line in the race of life," he says. It's a process and a resource. Biswas-Diener says there's a mountain of data showing that when people are happier, they become healthier and more curious, sociable, helpful, creative, and willing to try new things.
Happiness Myth No. 2: Happiness is a destination. continued...
"Happiness is not just an emotional flight of fancy," he says. It's beneficial for the long run, serving a real function in our lives.
In psychological lingo, this is called the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions, says Michael A. Cohn, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher with the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.
Cohn recently conducted a study with 86 college students who submitted daily emotion reports. The researchers measured the students' ability to flexibly respond to challenging and shifting circumstances and used a scale to assess life satisfaction. The study showed that positive emotions increased resilience -- skills for identifying opportunities and bouncing back from adversity -- as well as life satisfaction.
Happiness Myth No. 3: You always adapt to your happiness set point.
It's true that people tend to adapt fairly quickly to positive changes in their lives, Lyubomirsky says. In fact, adaptation is one of the big obstacles to becoming happier. The long-awaited house, the new car, the prestigious job - all can bring a temporary boost, but then recede into the background over time.
Why does this happen? One reason, Lyubomirsky says, is that we evolved to pay more attention to novelty. For our ancestors, novelty signaled either danger or opportunity - for a new mate or food, for example. We're attuned to contrasts, not sameness, but that also means we readily adapt to positive experiences that happen to us, Lyubomirsky says.
"I argue that you can thwart adaptation, slow it down, or prevent it with active ways of thinking or behaving," says Lyubomirsky, who after moving to Santa Monica, Calif., found herself adapting to her beautiful surroundings. To counteract this trend, she put effort into appreciating the view she saw when running on a path overlooking the ocean. She says she now savors that view daily, trying to see it "through the eyes of a tourist."
To help thwart adaptation, you can also use novelty to your advantage. For instance, if your home has become a little ho-hum, you might try rearranging furniture or hosting parties for a variety of friends. Voluntary activities like these are most effective because they require you to pay attention, Lyubomirsky notes.
Happiness Myth No. 4: Negative emotions always outweigh the positive ones.
For quite some time, research has indicated that negative emotions are more powerful than positive ones, Cohn says. For example, studies show that people don't have equal reactions to winning $3 and losing $3, he says. The loss tends to have a stronger effect than the gain.
Negative emotions might edge out positive emotions in the moment, says Cohn, because they're telling you to find a problem and fix it. By contrast, positive emotions appear to win out over time because they let you build on what you have, a finding reinforced by Cohn's recent study.
"We found that as positive emotions go up, there comes a point where negative emotions no longer have a significant negative impact on building resources or changing life satisfaction," Cohn says. "Positive emotions won't protect you from feeling bad about things, nor should they. But over time, they can protect you from the consequences of negative emotions."
This may not be true for people with depression or other serious disorders, although they do show benefits when positive emotions are added to conventional psychotherapy, Cohn notes.
Happiness Myth No. 5: Happiness is all about hedonism.
There's more to happiness than racking up pleasurable experiences. In fact, helping others - the opposite of hedonism - may be the most direct route to happiness, notes Stephen G. Post, PhD, co-author of Why Good Things Happen to Good People: The Exciting New Research That Proves the Link Between Doing Good and Living a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life.
"When people help others through formal volunteering or generous actions, about half report feeling a 'helper's high' and 13% even experience alleviation of aches and pains," says Post, professor of preventive medicine and director of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y.
"For most people, a pretty low threshold of activity practiced well makes a difference," Post says. This might involve volunteering just one or two hours each week or doing five generous things weekly - practices that are above and beyond what you normally do.
First documented in the 1990s, mood elevation from helping is associated with a release of serotonin, endorphins - the body's natural opiates - and oxytocin, a "compassion hormone" that reinforces even more helping behavior, Post says.
Could compassion be rooted in our neurobiology? A National Academy of Sciences 2006 study showed that simply thinking about contributing to a charity of choice activates a part of the brain called the mesolimbic pathway, the brain's reward center, which is associated with feelings of joy.
"Although just thinking about giving or writing a check can increase our levels of happiness, face-to-face interactions seem to have a higher impact," Post says. "I think that's because they engage the [brain's] agents of giving more fully through tone of voice, facial expression, and the whole body."
Happiness Myth No. 6: One size fits all.
If you're seeking a magic bullet or mystical elixir to enhance your happiness, you're bound to be sorely disappointed. There is no "one size fits all" for happiness.
Instead, there are many ways to boost your happiness. Here are options to try:
Pick an activity that is meaningful to you, Cohn says. Whether you choose an activity that promotes a sense of gratitude, connectedness, forgiveness, or optimism, you'll be most successful if your choices are personally relevant to you. And, he adds, this may also keep you from adapting to them too quickly.
Assess your strengths and develop practices that best use these gifts, Post suggests. Are you a good cook? Deliver a meal to a shut-in. A retired teacher? Consider tutoring a child. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
Vary your activities, because promoting happiness is largely a question of finding a good fit, Lyubomirsky says. To that end, she helped Signal Patterns develop a "Live Happy" iPhone application that starts with a short survey to identify the happiness strategies that you're suited to, such as journaling or calling someone to express gratitude. "You can lose your will [to do those activities] if it's not a good fit," Lyubomirsky says.
And when it comes to happiness, maintaining your will -- and acting on it -- might just put a pleasurable, meaningful life well within reach.

Former NBA player Manute Bol dies in Va. hospita
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—An associate of former NBA player Manute Bol says Bol has died at a Virginia hospital, where he was being treated for severe kidney trouble and a painful skin condition.
Sudan Sunrise executive director Tom Prichard says in an e-mail that the 7-foot-6 Bol died Saturday morning at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
The 47-year-old Bol played 10 seasons in the NBA and later worked closely with Sudan Sunrise, a humanitarian group based in Lenexa, Kan., that promotes reconciliation in Sudan. Bol played professionally with Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami.
Bol was hospitalized in mid-May during a stopover in Washington after returning to the United States from Sudan. Prichard says Sudan “and the world have lost a hero.”

Soil: The Warrior Lessons (Dedicated to FATHERHOOD)
Artwork Rob X.Young (Bobby Pens inc) and Goldi Gold
Father’s Day is a day for reverence for our father figures, and Hip Hop as a whole does not pay its respects to all of the good fathers in our community. Producers and Fathers Metaphysic and Amond Jackson, have put together a hip hop tribute to all Fathers and the relationship they share with their children. The project entitled “Soil: The Warrior Lessons” pulls together uncompromising people from the hip hop community sharing wisdom for our kids over Amond’s and Metaphysic’s beats with special guests producers. Hip Hop notables like J-Live, DJ Applejac, Flyod the Locsmif, Illastrate, M1 of Dead Prez, Homeboy Sandman, Supa Dave West, John Robinson, DJ Amdex and many others will speak to their seeds and share the feelings and information they need to know. This project should be the soundtrack to your Father’s Day and provide encouragement for you and your young ones.
“Soil” is everything a parent provides for their children or “seeds.” Metaphysic describes the project’s title in this way: “Just like in nature our children, our "seeds" can’t grow alone once planted. They need the proper care in order to flourish. The soil is the nourishment parents must provide in order for our youth to grow strong roots and flourish. With the right soil our youth can properly develop into productive, self reliant and creative contributors to the human family.” Amond and Meta intend for this project to be a gift for Fathers to share with their children to provide alternative perspectives from mainstream music and media. This project also serves as a time capsule that generations in the future can listen to and see what these group of fathers and fathers-to-be had on their minds.
The sense of community among fathers is a major theme for this project. Amond and Meta have brought together many different voices in hip hop; DJs, MCs, B-Boys, Producers, Writers, Videographers, and Freedom Fighters have all contributed to this inspirational instrumental project. The music will be free, so listeners can expect to hear a wide range of vibes and sounds. "Soil: The Warrior Lessons" will be a free download availble Father's Day June 20, 2010.

VIDEO: ChoiceCuts presents Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
ChoiceCuts presents Hypnotic Brass Ensemble from Loughlin McSweeney on Vimeo.
Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are one of a kind. Graced with soul, funk, and spirituality this band have captivated audiences worldwide. Their music is a combination of all genres. With the undeniable drive of hip-hop, the freedom of rock and the melodic thread of R&B these guys are nothing short of unique.
All band members are the sons of legendary Sun Ra trumpeter Phil Cohran. The group began performing together as children (some as early as 3 years old). In 1999 they formed what is now known as the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and have performed or collaborated with some of the greatest musical stars of the last two decades. From Mos Def to Maxwell, Wu Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah to UK superstar Damon Alburn, Erykah Badu to Fela Kuti's drummer Tony Allen. If you don't know these guys you're missing out.
During one of their many stays in Dublin with ChoiceCuts, Hypnotic decided to shack up in a studio located high in the Dublin mountains to rehearse for a week and write new material. Hypnotic and ChoiceCuts had a bit of down time in between these sessions and with plenty of Guinness and Jameson in tow chose to rework some of their favourite records from other artists that have influenced them both.
Hypnotic know their fans. They also know their fans know real music. The Heritage EP released by ChoiceCuts with Hypnotic is a nod to that fact, a sprinkling of the Hypnotic dust over some of the tunes that influenced the band and their musical direction over the course of their lives.

Emerging Jobs in Social Media (Blog and tweet your way to a new career.)
by Carol Tice, PayScale.com
The world of marketing has changed with the rise of social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Now companies are seeking their customers' attention with tweets, videos, blog posts, pictures--online content designed to create buzz and attract a following. And this means more and more companies are looking for employees who know how to create and distribute this kind of content.
Growing numbers of job hunters are turning their blogging skills or Facebook savvy into new careers in social media. A background in marketing, computer technology, copywriting, or journalism is often a plus in landing Web 2.0 jobs.
This is an emerging field, so pay rates are all over the place right now--but good pay is already to be found, with full-time jobs ranging from $45,000 to six figures.
"My rule of thumb is, you get paid in social media for what you've done in the past," says Jim Durbin, who operates the niche job site JobsInSocialMedia. "A fresh college grad may make $25,000 as a social media marketer, but if you already have a marketing job where they pay you $80,000 a year, your employer might move your duties over to social media marketing and keep that salary."
Many ad agencies that assist major corporations with social media campaigns are hiring, but the majority of jobs in social media are freelance rather than full-time. On the upside, hourly rates can be high--$200 an hour and more, says copywriting coach Chris Marlow.
"The lowest rate anybody should charge for social media marketing work is $50 an hour," she says. "Many are charging $100 an hour."
Here's a look at some of the most common jobs in social media, and the skills they require:
Social media strategist or digital strategist
Chris Marlow calls this job "the top of the heap" in social media. These experienced marketing strategists understand how to create social media marketing campaigns and measure their success. At larger companies, they may oversee a social media team.
"They're the people who put together a plan," she says.
Community manager
At Spherion subsidiary Mergis Group, recruiting practice director Greg Bennett says he recently filled a $120,000-a-year community manager position with a major company. Community managers oversee company blogs and forums, keeping visitors coming to the site through outreach on social sites, and moderating conversations to make sure nothing libelous or insulting is being said.
The job calls for marketing experience, as well as work in Web publishing, copywriting, project management, and social media. Bennett says his recruiting research turned up several similar positions already earning in the same range.
"Everyone I see wants the same thing," he says. "Someone who is a marketing person but has been heavily involved in social media--they know how to run online symposiums, draw people into the company's community, and keep them in."
Blogger
Posting short articles filled with links to related sites has become a popular technique for improving rankings in search engines. Marlow says $35 to $75 an hour is typical pay for a corporate blogger. Many bloggers have journalism training, but others who enter the field have their own personal blogs and use them to audition for corporate blogging jobs.
Social media marketing specialist
The virtual-world version of a marketing specialist, this job entails taking existing company marketing materials and circulating them effectively in various social-media channels, says Durbin.
Search engine marketing associate
A lower-level position than a social-media strategist or marketer, search engine marketing (SEM) associates work on building a company's results in "natural search," the unpaid results delivered by search engines.
Online customer service representative
A growing number of companies are watching social sites for customer complaints--prominent examples on Twitter include Comcast Cares. "There's a lot of work here, because it's so expensive to take calls," says Durbin of JobsInSocialMedia. Workers who have call-center experience and who write well are ideal candidates to cross over into this field.
Business writer Carol Tice is a regular contributor to Entrepreneur, The Seattle Times, and other major publications.
Debit or Credit: Which Card to Use?
By ConsumerReports.org
Debit cards now rule in the world of plastic. Americans reach for them more often than credit cards when shopping, a trend that's expected to continue. But for some types of purchases, swiping your credit card makes more sense. Here's when you should and shouldn't use each kind of plastic.
Use a credit card...
For big purchases
You don't want to buy, say, a laptop or other big-ticket item with a debit card, especially if you purchase it online. Credit cards allow you to withhold payment if something goes wrong with your purchase, and the card issuer often investigates the problem for you. With a debit card the cash is deducted from your checking account immediately, and it may be up to you to resolve any problems with the merchant.
Some credit cards, including all American Express cards, add up to a year to the manufacturer's warranty on the products you buy with them. You may also get additional protections against fraud, damage, identity theft, or plain old theft. Many credit cards also offer complimentary travel insurance, car rental loss and damage insurance, and 24-hour travel, roadside, and emergency assistance.
For gas, hotels, and car rentals
Some hotels, gas stations, restaurants, auto rental companies, and retailers put a hold on the money in your checking account until a debit transaction is processed, which might take up to several days for signature-based payments. What's more, the amount that's blocked can significantly exceed the amount of your purchase. These holds can prevent you from accessing the funds in your bank account and result in bounced checks, declined transactions, or overdraft charges.
To earn rewards
Fewer debit cards have rewards programs, and the programs of the ones that do aren't as good as those of credit cards. Using your debit card won't maximize the amount of cash back or points you can earn. Rewards credit cards, however, tend to have the highest interest rates, so unless you pay off your balance in full each month, you shouldn't use one.
When safety is paramount
Under federal law, your liability for fraudulent charges on a debit card can be greater than it is for a credit card. You're responsible for up to $50 in unauthorized purchases on your credit cards. But with a debit card, you can lose up to $500 if you don't report the theft or loss of your card or PIN within two business days of discovering the problem. And if you fail to report the unauthorized charges within 60 days of the date of the statement that lists them, you could be held liable for any unauthorized withdrawals after that date. Those include the full value of credit lines and funds in savings linked to your checking account for overdraft protection.
In practice, Visa and MasterCard have "zero liability" policies that go beyond the federal law by exempting debit cardholders from liability in most cases when a bank investigation confirms a transaction is fraudulent. But there are loopholes in those policies. People who create fake ATM or debit cards by stealing your PIN and other account data can simply pull cash from your bank account. Using a technique known as skimming, they set up equipment that captures magnetic-stripe and keypad information when you enter your PIN at ATMs, gas pumps, restaurants, and retailers.
When you do use a debit card, don't type in your PIN at the pump; sign for the transaction instead. Use only ATMs inside banks, and monitor your account online for abnormal activity.
Use a debit card...
For budgeting
Debit cards are fine for small purchases, such as groceries and other everyday purchases. You may be inclined to spend less using debit, since you generally know how much money you have in your bank account. Debit cards may also curb the tendency to spend more to earn rewards, a problem for some people with credit cards.
Debit cards have become even better for budgeting now that new federal rules require banks to get your permission to allow overdrafts made with debit and ATM cards and charge fees for those transactions. But the rules, which take effect for new cards on July 1 and for existing accounts on Aug. 15, don't cover overdrafts from checks or recurring transactions, such as automatic bill payments.
