On Saturday October 3rd I performed during the 2009 A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta, GA. The venue was East Atlanta Ice House, the bill included Jasmine Solano, Binkis Recs, Mike Bigga (formerly Killer Mike), and the God MC… Rakim. During my set I brought out the homies 4 Ize and (late entry) Punchline to perform the song “Classic Example” which is off my new project “Walk Softly & Carry A Big Brick” as well as Binkis Recs for a special one night only version of “Live At The BBQ.” We also had a commemoration for the big homie Jax (Rest In Peace). This year marked the first time in 5 years he wasn’t physically able to perform at the A3C fest. Festival founder Brian Knott came out and presented Binkis Recs (Flux, Killa Kalm, Dj Mafioso, and Jax’s wife Lisa) with a plaque. The crowd has NO idea we had all this in store, the night was just magical. Good times. Well… now that I got your hopes up, I must let you know, this isn’t the whole show. But only a clip of Classic Example and Automatic Classic being performed. Check it out.

Dang, what was I doing at 25? What It Does: Aircraft sales and leasing Founder: Jamail Larkins, 25 Web Site: www.ascensionaircraft.com Based: Augusta, Ga.
Jamail Larkins has been hooked on flying ever since he took his first flying lesson at age 12. The Augusta (Ga.) native completed his first solo flight at 14, performed in an aerobatic air show four years later, and earned a bachelor's degree in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. But instead of following a traditional career path and going to work for Boeing (BA) or Lockheed Martin (LMT), Larkins decided to channel his passion into his own business. It came naturally. At 15, he had started Larkins Enterprises, selling flight training books and videos to local pilots, to pay for his flying lessons. "I promise you we started off selling a lot less than we do today," he says. Though he continues to run Larkins to do marketing and consulting for clients that include his alma mater, the National Business Aviation Assn., and Michelin Aircraft Tires, he says 90% of his revenue comes from his aircraft sales and leasing company, Ascension Aircraft, which he started in 2006. Larkins says four-employee Ascension is profitable and had a little over $7 million in revenue in 2008, despite the downturn. He expects revenue to increase slightly this year. He continues to fly for fun every chance he gets and is planning to get back into aerobatics in 2010. Article: America's Best Young Entrepreneurs 2009
A unique book of wisdom and experience that reaches from the most violent slums of New York City to the highest planes of spiritual thought by the RZA, hip-hop's most exalted wise man.
The RZA, the Abbot of the Wu-Tang Clan and hip-hop culture's most dynamic genius, imparts the lessons he's learned on the journey that's taken him from the Staten Island projects to international superstar, all along the way a devout student of knowledge in every form he's found it-on the streets, in religion, in martial arts, in chess, in popular culture. Part chronicle of an extraordinary life and part spiritual and philosophical discourse, The Tao of Wu is a nonfiction Siddhartha for the hip-hop generation -an engaging, seeking book that will enlighten, entertain, and inspire.
The legions of Wu-Tang fans are accustomed to this heady mix-their obsession with the band's puzzlelike lyrics and elaborate mythology has propelled the group through fifteen years of dazzling, multiplatform success. In his 2005 bestseller The Wu-Tang Manual, the RZA provided the barest glimpse of how that mythology worked. In The Tao of Wu, he takes us deep inside the complex sense of wisdom and spirituality that has been at the core of his commercial and creative success.
The book is built around major moments in the RZA's life when he was faced with a dramatic turning point, either bad (a potential prison sentence) or good (a record deal that could pull his family out of poverty), and the lessons he took from each experience. His points of view are always surprising and provocative, and reveal a profound, genuine, and abiding wisdom-consistently tempered with humor and peppered with unique, colloquial phraseology. It is a spiritual memoir as the world has never seen before, and will never see again. Related story: RZA: Wu-Tang a drive-by away from never existing
Duck Sauce is the new musical partnership between DJ/party rocker A-Trak and legendary electronic producer Armand Van Helden. “Anyway” is the 1st single off their upcoming EP due out in October on Fool’s Gold (A-Trak’s record label alongside partner Nick Catchdubs). It’s a clever homage to old school performance shows such as Soul Train and the Ed Sullivan show that plays on the disco and house roots that the new Duck Sauce project centers around.
Brandi took some dope photos of the group. I've know about these cats for a couple years. Dope music for real real!!
